AVALANCHE PUBLIC SAFETY INFO

Use Taos Search and Rescue's free library of tips

to remain safer in the backcountry now!

TIP 1

AVALANCHE

Always carry avalanche rescue equipment when traveling into avalanche terrain.  This includes a beacon, shovel, and probe at a minimum.  NEVER travel into avalanche terrain alone.

TIP 2

AVALANCHE

Get the proper education before heading into avalanche terrain.  AIARE Level 1 is a great place to start.

TIP 3

AVALANCHE

Be prepared for a multitude of challenges.  The winter months provide solace and serenity, but also present a multitude of new challenges.  Constantly changing weather, cold temperatures, and shorter days must be accounted for when planning a trip into the backcountry during the winter months.

If you like the information provided above, consider taking a course from our TSAR experts to learn more.

Knowledge is power and that power can save lives while in the back-country...empower yourself!
